The Colosseum

I know, you're thinking "I've seen the Colosseum; it's been used in movies and advertisements for years." 

 

But, let me tell you, the minute you walk up to this massive amphitheater, you're going to realize that the movies and photos you've seen (including the ones on this page) do not do it justice.    The history of this place is unparalleled - and our local guide gave it life for us.

 

For instance:  Did you know that the actual name of the Colosseum is the "Flavian Amphitheater"?  Did you know that, though the quote, "We, who are about to die, Salute you," originated here, Gladiator fights were not the only events held here?
